THE SOUND VENDOR - "DANCE IN" AT THE MASONIC TEMPLE, PORTLAND 1968

Found this rare poster on Ebay...didn't buy it but downloaded the image...

It's a handbill from the Masonic Temple in Portland Oregon, entitled “Dance In.”

The bands featured included The Youngbloods, The Family Tree, Stone Garden, The Sound Vendor and Gentlemen Wild....This would have been an awesome psychedelic one-dayer

i remember sseeing a rick griffin exhibition in sunderland in the 70's -still like those intricate designs-once put a for sale sign up in his almost unreadable style of writing and had people knocking on the door asking what it said!

  2. '68 is too late. Ugh.

  3. Glad you liked the art. For the life of me I can't recall who I commissioned to execute it. Oh well.

    1. Hello Jim, were you a member of The Sound Vendor?

    2. Nope. I was the promoter of many shows in and around Portland in that era. Including this one. The Sound Vendor just happened to be one of my favorite local bands. Some of whose members I still occasionally socialize with. Though I never was a musician. Just a kid who couldn't then yet make it as a photographer...
PS. I've also noticed many of these old scans seem to delete much smaller type size info. Like ticket sales points, the graphic artist/illustrator and sometimes the promoters name... Like this one does. No big deal. Just amusing.
