FLOWER BOMB SONGS - 4 YEARS OLD

I started my music blog 4 years ago to write about obscure and forgotten garage, psychedelic and punk records with the emphasis on the glorious 45. At that time virtually every music blog I landed on was posting full music files of albums and CDs with artwork.

I said to myself 'What the fuck is that all about?' and to this day I will not associate or link my blog with those shoddy types despite numerous requests.
I also decided to keep the same colour combinations and lay-out from the start. I'm a perfectionist and put demands on myself to only post high res pics of labels and photos. I only write about records If I've got an original copy (or decent quality re-issue) and never upload MP3s from a CD. They're always mastered by me from a vinyl record.
I always wanted to name my site after a Byrds song because The Byrds have always been and will always remain my favourite ever group.
At first my blog was called 'Renaissance Fair' but I discovered that a psych dealer set up a site 2 years ago and called it...well you guessed it....so I decided to change the name of my blog to 'Flower Bomb Songs'...

Most Byrdmaniacs will know that David Crosby wrote a song in 1967 called 'Flower Bomb Song' but The Byrds refused to record it as did The Jefferson Airplane when he offered it to them. They recorded his song 'Triad' instead! All attempts to locate the demo of 'Flower Bomb Song' have failed and it's now unlikely to be found.

The greatest thing about my blog is the fact that musicians have contacted me because I've written about their group or one off garage 45 from the mid 60s. Over the years I've had great pleasure in conducting email interviews with many cool people who provided me with excelent information, unseen photographs from their archives and unheard music.
I'm currently helping Wolfgang at Break-A-Way-Records and hope that The Roosters have their music compiled and released. Tim Ward wrote so many amazing folk janglers...some unreleased songs have never been heard since 1966.

Anyway here's my roll of honour of groups and performers who provided this site with important information over the years: Take a bow chaps!!

A LITTLE BIT OF SOUND - ADRIAN PRIDE - AVENGERS - BEEDS - BELLTOWERS - BOYS FROM NEW YORK CITY - BRAD LONG - CALLIOPE - CAT'S MEOW - CELLAR DWELLARS - CINDERMEN - COUNTRY GENTLEMEN - GRASSFIRE - HANGMEN - HARBINGER COMPLEX - HEADLESS HORSEMEN - JAGGED EDGE - JUST LUV - LES GYPSYS - LOOS FOOS AND THE FIBRE GLASS CORNFLAKE - LOVE EXCHANGE - LYN LA SALLE - LYRICS - MC SQUARED - MOORPARK INTERSECTION - PAUL MESSIS - PROJECTILES - RANDY AND THE RADIANTS - RHYTHMLADS - ROGUES - ROOSTERS - ROYAL NONESUCH - SOUND EXPLOSION - UNHEARD - UNITED TRAVEL SERVICE - YANKEE DOLLAR

  7. Congrats on the 4 years, Colin. You've done a great job and it seems that it is finally paying off as regards to comments etc.

Btw. I think the Flower Bomb Song was written already in 1965. I don't know if you've seen this clip:

Supposedly it's the song without lyrics. Sounds f*cking awesome.

  8. There are thousands of music blogs out there, but your's is one of the best. Your music selections are always superb and the audio quality is unsurpassed! Even when you highlight a song that I'm already familiar with, it's great to hear it sounding better than I've ever heard it before. Thanks for all the great research you share and keep up the good work!
