L.A. SOUNDS - THE FIRST 50

This is my personal sound trip to Los Angeles circa summer 1967. I am a hip DJ wearing cool mod threads, beatle boots, wide buckle belt, maybe some love beads. I had dolly birds hangin' off each arm demanding some love action but all I wanted to do was play The Caretakers Of Deception or the latest Seeds 45.
I'm a happenin' kick ass hipster in control of the turntable at Gazzarri's or It's Boss.
I'm loaded on purple pills and this is my nights work.

What a wonderful Trip back in time ... if only I could go back for one day, but I still can dream of a sublime vision of youth.
    Compliments! thank you ...

  2. Thanks Tom for taking time out to add comments and everyone else who has left messages, emailed me and sent info/label scans.

The next 50 Los Angeles songs will feature more garage, folk rock and pop but will also include some cool surf, singer songwriters and blues.

But I'm gonna have a break from structured posts and just grab records out of boxes then research and review them for the next few months.

  5. Perfect! Haven't visited here in a while, so this was an awesome treat to be greeted with! I've lost almost the whole afternoon listening to the tunes and enjoying the ace photos etc... there's loads more to catch up with so can't wait to come back. Need some new music and now I have loads of bands to investigate further. Thanks so much for doing this, it's just fab. Woo!

  6. Very impressive run, Expo. I learned a lot from your notes, really enjoyed your selections and still can't get over how cool an idea it was to focus on a specific regional scene the way you did. Nice work. Oh, and those hi-res scans RULE!
